It was that time of the year again…

Part I

Autonomous Design

‘We were put on this earth and experience all these different impressions. It goes on and on and on. How do we process that.’

 (You definitely understand me, sir.)

This autonomous work came together with help from my favourite peops (mom, dad and my homey). I needed there technical skills, their memories and stories, there photographs. It was one of the nicest things I ever made (so far).

Deze autonome beeldende collectie is geïnspireerd door indrukken en gevoelens die ontstaan door waarnemingen en de behoefte deze vast te leggen. De vastlegging gebeurt op een ordelijke manier. Het wordt een overzicht van het gevoel dat de indruk heeft achtergelaten:

het beeld van de gewaarwording.

De basis voor de vormtaal conceptueel. De reden hiervoor is het gedachtegoed van de conceptuele kunst: het vastgelegde beeld is slechts één van de vele mogelijkheden. Het is de mate van mijn bereidheid mijn denkbeelden vorm te geven. In de conceptuele vormtaal is het uiterlijk van het beeld het minst belangrijk. Dat aspect pas ik aan naar mijn eigen waarden. Formeel ban ik geen schoonheidsprincipes uit, maar kies voor een minimale esthetische vorm die ik nodig vind voor het formele beeld.

De beschouwer krijgt te maken met de relatie tussen het individueel-subjectieve en het algemeen-objectieve. Een situatie waarbij de buitenstaander probeert een beeld te vormen bij de beeldtaal van de kunstenaar en zo een eigen mogelijkheid van een beeld maakt. De toeschouwer voltooit het kunstwerk.

The collection is conceptual, like in conceptual art. This means that I have tried to make the individual subjective (my thoughts) common objective (the image you know). Look and understand. The sculptures will tell their story, even if it is a version of the concept. Your version.

The book contains the statement, the collection, the sculptures, references to the art world and stories that needed to be told.

My very nice grade was accordingly to the understanding of my art professor. And boy, did he ever.
