Art

My parents master the art of corresponding through mail. And with that I mean writing with a pen on a card or piece of paper, to fold that and put it in an envelope, stamping it and walk to a nearby mailbox to post your mail.
They write well and always get to the point. This form of art they practice on the most beautiful cards they collect from ‘everywhere’.

After working (my ass of) very hard for the schoolexams to finish this year of, I received this one (found in England)…

Me on vacation, so elegant en welldressed...

Reading the back: isn't it GREEN and AMAZING!

‘Al je werk heeft een bepaalde eigenaardigheid.’

‘All your work has a kind of singularity’.

-quote: member of the jury-

Loop even mee...

Time flew, and June came right after January this year. Time to be judged by the ‘school jury’, for the second time.
Walk with me...

Leertraject:

Learning route:
from painting in black and white to painting in color. With acrylic paint. Big bad paint in resembling with my beloved, pleasant and most elegant aquarelle.

Painted with only black and white paint on a middlegrey fond. Original: The Goose guardian by Emile Claus. In my painting I've lost a few of the original geese and it appears to be in the evening instead of early morning.
It is somewhat melancholy.

Painted with ultramarijn and burned ombre, mixed and made warm and cold grey.
Original: Italian landscape by Herman van Swanevelt.

Toonvierkant: wit, ultramarijn en gebrande omber.

Coloursquare: white, ultramarijn and burned ombre.

(And no, it's not perfect. Yet.)

Glaceren / To glace

My driveway in the sunlight, what are the shadows like.

Gebakje in het donker, schaduwen & kleuren.

Pastry in the dark, shadows & colours.

And finally: funny pastry in the light. Shadows, light, colours, see and paint!

And now I think (wishfully), acrylic paint and I:

‘the beginning of a beautiful friendship?’

Fundamenteel Onderzoek Ruimtelijk
Fundamental Research 3D

Leertraject:

Learning route:
given a concept in shape, make as many pieces with as many materials as you can handle and use all the techniques you can master. The workshop where we have to learn all of this is currently stated in the twilightzone: which means that everything you do there is taking up five times as much of your time then when you do it at home (or on a campsite, or with one arm). The point is you can’t make anything without the overall knowledge of the workshopmen (the suck all the knowledge right out of the air and your own brain turns blank). Then you are working for hours and hours and at the end of the day you managed to have soldered one piece of iron to another piece of iron (then you think, well at least I can solder now, but no, when you come home it has already fallen apart). This whole process goes on and on and, you will get an epiphany and jump out of the twilightzone with some pretty decent studies under your arm.

Perceptuele Vormgeving Ruimtelijk
a.k.a. boetseren (in dit geval)

Perceptive Studies 3D
a.k.a. moulding (in this case)

Learning route: from a ‘square’ paprika (learning technique and observation) to a still live.

The final object is the only thing that resembles anything (even the original, which is a big deal), so that will be the only thing I'll donate to this blog. While studying I hoped to get the same feeling as when in kindergarten and happily moulded nice things which contained the all important proportions, perpendiculars and placing the objects correctly in space. But to bad, the older you get the more you ‘think’ you see the truth.

In ieder geval, ik vind hem leuk.

Anyway, I like the whole thing.

Autonome Vormgeving
Autonomus Design

Learning route: choose a location and study registration, aesthetics, perception and the meaning of this place. Put all of this together in the blender, pull of the lid while turning en make some sculptures.

My location: most Nordic sand atomising of the province of Gelderland (view from my studio).

Beelden / Sculptures

Colour of sand and sand and sand, iron as part of the autonomy of this area and red stands for 'hey, what is lying there?' (There is always something interesting lying around, like a shuffle of a dead squirrel and stuff like that).

Gesorteerd.

Iron and clay, colours of the area, underground and above ground. Sorted out.
